We want to increase public awareness of dog paw thermal injuries caused by elevated temperatures of walking surfaces. Some studies show that on 85 degree days surface walking temperatures can reach over 135 degrees (AKC.org). Higher temperatures can cause paw burns within seconds. Many dog owners are unaware that their pets are enduring high temperatures and sometimes suffer burns from walking on these surfaces. We are working with local animal shelters to increase awareness and provide non-contact thermometers free-of-charge to dog owners. Our efforts are made possible through community donations and partnerships with our shelters.
